Final Reflection Composition II

Co’Meshia Greer Deanna Nall Composition II 06 May 2025 Final Reflection My Academic Success Proposal essay was the first major assignment I wrote in my Composition II class. The title of my paper was not well thought out it was simply titled "Academic Success Proposal." At the beginning of the semester, I was focused and confident in maintaining my academic success, but I became consumed with everything else life throws at me. Originally, my proposal topic for academic success was Time Management. I completed all the research needed to complete my essay promptly but as I stated I became consumed and overwhelmed with maintaining my work life, personal life, and incorporating my school life; my mental health was compromised. In a frantic state at the last minute, I felt obligated to change my academic success proposal topic to Mental Health strategies in college. My thesis statement was: “To tackle the struggles of maintaining my mental health, I am taking the initi...

Assignment #3: Short Story Project

Image
For the short story assignment, I had to choose a short story provided by the professor. I chose the short story "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid to create a book sleeve. To create a book sleeve, I needed a cover art, short analysis of the story, four credible sources from my annotated bibliography, and a brief summary about the author.

Assignment #2: Annotated Bibliography

This assignment I had to choose a short story my instructor provided. After choosing my short story which was "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid, I had to list multiple credible sources. Then write a short synopsis on each source pertaining to the short story. My intended audience was my peers and instructor.  Annotated Bibliography   Nayar, Pramod K. "TEACHING AND READING JAMAICA KINCAID'S "GIRL": A REVIEW OF GENERAL SEMANTICS." Et Cetera, vol. 76, no. 3, 2019, pp. 285-290. ProQuest, https://www.proquest.com/scholarly-journals/teaching-reading-jamaica-kincaids-girl/docview/2674899180/se-2 . In this article, the writer is breaking down the predetermined roles for genders in society specifically for "girls" growing into young women. The author uses this short story to express in a unique manner the role of family, society, and gender determine our identity and place in the world. This source is credible because it was published in a peer-revie...

I researched various credible sources to obtain strategies to overcome mental health struggles while in college. Co’Meshia I. Greer Instructor Nall ENGL 10203-W012 19 February 2025 Academic Success Proposal I remember the day of New Year's 2022; I worked a temporary night shift position in a warehouse. When the clock hit midnight, my coworkers were full of joy, conversing with one another about their New Year resolutions. As I continued to work, a coworker approached me to ask about my New Year’s resolutions and when the new semester started. I stood there in silence. The agonizing memories of unexpected life events from 2021 flooded my mind. Life was “lifing” I was overwhelmed and failed the previous semester of college. Therefore, I dreaded the unknown of 2022. At that moment, my coworker sta...
